Caleb got his adenoids out Tuesday, he did wonderfully and recovered really quick. He's still not eating the greatest, but I think part of that is he knows he can have as many juice boxes and Popsicle's he wants right now! Plus I'm sure he's telling the truth when he says it still hurts! but he's transitioned from saying his throat hurts to his ear hurts(which the adenoids were near) so I'm guessing its getting better, plus we never did the Tylenol w/ codeine, just Motrin and Tylenol so I'm sure he did / does feel it a little and as those of you who know Caleb can attest to.... he does have the flair for the drama....
They say the most important thing in the week that follows is keeping it moist and keeping him hydrated, well, he is taking full advantage and I think we created a new record at the hospital on how much you can get a post-surgery kiddo under three to drink :). I had a few tricks up my sleeve and had part of the suitcase packed with various juice boxes, since the hospital supplied ones are never the good kind :). He had surgery at 8am, at 2pm started drinking juice boxes finally as the meds wore off, I left to go see Erica since I was the one staying the night, and by 7pm when I was on my way back, Nick called to say pick up more, Caleb has already drank 8 of the 10 you packed :).
The adenoids themselves were AWFUL, they were HUGH, had pockets of bacteria, food etc in them that would have created a continuous low level infection etc... Well, this is a GREAT thing b/c he got the adenoids b/c of recurrent sinus infection, the ENT and PULM (who did a bronch @ the same time the adenoids came out) thought that they were so bad it should help sinus infections (the re-current cough was caused by this), will most likely help the asthma, and they even thought it would help his reflux b/c his pulm said they were so big, there was no way he was breathing normally (as he was) w/0 putting pressure on his tummy by working hard so..... cross our fingers it should help alot :).
Our next Caleb project.....get him to sleep better, right now his baby sister sleeps through the night better then him and it is absolutely behavioral! I just bought a sleep aid, that is a stop light w/ a car on it, its getting delivered next week so cross our fingers it works! We have a kiddo who either has woken up at 4AM or been up for 3+ hours a night for the last week or so!!! we are tired! It doesn't help that he can't fall asleep w/o someone in there...we are working on that too!!
