Against all odds!

I got told as late as last Friday that while Caleb had come so far, especially in the last few months that my expectations of this week needed to be more realistic...he likely would not miraculously be cured of everything on his ridiculously scary medical history that even freaked out both anesthesiologist just this Tues and Wed, one said "wow", the other wouldn't put him under until he was in the OR with all equipment and docs so we had to hand over a screaming Caleb, no kiss good night for us :(. The "official" results aren't in yet, those will be in by the end of next week when all the labs, impedance prob results etc.. are read but.... the unofficial results are Caleb is somehow someway miraculously cleared off all the scary stuff. All four of the malacias are gone, the lungs looked pretty good, no long term concern based on appearance, and he said the really bad stuff (i.e. long term damage) he can usually see, the labs we are waiting on show less severe. He shows signs of GI issues but no signs that his GI issues are any longer affecting his airways.

Caleb handled this week really well, at least by Nick and mine standards, obviously he hated getting put under and waking up and he was not himself during either. He DESPISED the elbow constraints and really wasn't himself yesterday until 5:00 when we were told that if we watched him close, he could talk them off....they never went back on. In the middle of the night during stat check they found out that his IV start wouldn't flush, which meant if they actually needed an IV they'd have to start a new one anyways so...that came out and this AM Caleb was 100% back. He awoke this morning, after about 5 hours of total sleep a total flirt and having fun. some pics are below. Caleb thought the bag caring the recording box for the probe was chasing him.....he just ran ran ran :).
