Is this my kid or what! I got his juice out of the fridge and he grabbed this.
His "Shot" of thin juice this AM
Everything is a matter of perspective...
Caleb and I had a great day! we played with bubbles, went on two walks, cuddled lots and I got to make my fav - spinach, sun dried tomato, pine nut & feta pasta for dinner (yum) and had it with Nick and a glass of chilled, dry white for both of us, it was just a great day!
Caleb is also sick yet again; this is his forth virus in less than three weeks by his doctors count, we had two back to back, about 4 to 5 days off then now 2 more back to back. This one started with a fever which ended us up at radiology dept of the new Fishers St. V medical center for a chest x-ray but... it showed it is just a new viral infection (we feared worse as he is just getting over a nasty nasty bug).
The thing is.... Caleb is doing great! he has handled all four of these viruses like a champ! He is happy, just can't sleep that well and needs some extra mama time, this AM he decided that from 5 to 6 he could only sleep on mama :).
Plus he continues to do new and exciting things. His therapist and pediatrician have all said he has made HUGE, beyond normal strides in the last three weeks. Everyone is a little apprehensive to say its from the cord blood, as that is so theoretical but as his PCP (pediatrician) said yesterday, it definitely didn't hurt and it very well may be why he is doing so great. Its kind-of like WOW to everyone, especially b/c this last bug he had was a pretty bad one and he continued to do new and exiting things! Essentially in all areas except his drinking of thin liquids he is now on-track or ahead of where any other 14 month old would be. The thin liquids we've been trialing with a shot glass (see pic below, its really funny :) ), his reflux is much much much better, we've backed off on the constipation meds and his trunk tone has improved a lot!, his swallowing is better...he just needs practice as he has never had thin. Plus, we are pretty sure he is no longer micro-aspirating given how good his lungs sound right now given how bad the virus he had was.
So.... tonight I decided its a matter of perspective! I refused to be stressed out over the x-ray (I hate and get ulcer level stress over blood test, x-rays, specialist apts etc.. b/c Caleb hates them so much) because in reality, the X-ray took less than a total of two hours of our day and God only gives you in life what you can handle. Caleb has very very rarely gotten viruses during his first 14 months of life until these last three weeks, and all the sudden, he is catching them...all of a sudden when he can handle them he is getting them ???. No one really knew how the heck Caleb didn't get sick b/f (I like to think lots of Clorox wipes) but he didn't, he should have been in and out of the hospital but he wasn't b/c he just didn't get sick and now that he can handle it, still play outside and have a normal day like a typical kid when he is sick he gets the four virus in three weeks so I decided I'm Ok with it, even if it means less sleep :( for both Nick and I (we share night duties!!!).
