My week really could have been straight out of a comedy script this week! Nothing horrible, just each day something else to deal with. I am one happy Mom that its the weekend!. My week is below, nothing life altering or awful, just all w/i one week is a little much and honestly makes you laugh (as opposed to crying or just drinking the whole bottle of wine instead of a glass)
Mon: I am flooded OUT of our house w/ two kids. I leave to take Caleb to his intro to sports class & Lunch, w/ Erica in tow. When driving home I pull over for ONLY 30 sec, to access the rather deep body of water the cars in front of me are going through - this is the only way home since the other end of the road has been blocked since the AM...Seriously in that 30 sec a cop comes up and shuts down the road!!! a couple hours later I have neighbors who call and say they are braving it, say its scary &the school bus's won't go through it so I decide not the best idea w/ two small kids - Nick goes and talks to our back fence neighbor (a different neighborhood w/ a back entrance off of a non-flooded road) and we lift the kids over the back fence , and Nick & I find a break in fences to cut between bushes & trees around 5:30.......we left the house @ 9:30AM
Tue: Caleb & I are on the way to a follow-up dr. apt and.... rear end someone (we are both fine). Apparently, the car in front of him slammed on the breaks, he slammed on his and I hit him..... I say apparently b/c it all happened so fast I didn't know how the heck I hit him, he told me the car in front of him etc.... He had a huge tahoe so...My car was undrivable, airbags deployed etc... Caleb was AWESOME and mommy's little man, stood on the side of the road w/ me for over 40 min and stayed on the sidewalk. As I was going to get stuff out of the car (as oil & gas were dripping we were not in it) he yells out at one point "mommy cars coming, get back on sidewalk :) )....later he told me the scariest parts: 1. Me losing my phone (got jolted off the dash into the floor board in the wreck) & the smoke (from the airbag). The FIRST thing Caleb said to be after the accident, as I'm getting him out of the car seat "mommy, I think maybe we should call daddy"....my phone was lost @ the time, hence his #1 scariest.
Wed: Caleb literally could have been a stunt performer. I hear "ahh" as I'm walking down the back steps w/ Erica and Caleb is taking the "mommy stairs" (a.k.a the long steep front stair case that only mommy could use until about 2 months ago...caleb always had to use the back steps w/ a landing 1/2 way down). I run over to see him literally rolling down knees to hands...head headed for tile at the bottom and the kid puts down his hands cart-wheel style from his gymnastics class we were in last month and lands on his hands then proceeds to flips his body to his knees....he cried for about 3 mins, got kisses on both knees & his belly (must have hit a step in the flipping) and was OK...Me - I lost a couple years on my life!
Thurs: Caleb wakes up w/ his first cold of the season but seems to be doing OK...no continuous cough (medically - a asthma attack ) yet......... PM - Erica falls and gets her first fat bloody lip...SERIOUSLY...not really a big deal but I'd been having a rough week.......
Fri: Caleb wakes up and....can't stop coughing - he's technically in a asthma attack....I take him into his PCP and we change meds around AGAIN...good & bad news..... Wed night, after talking to his allergist, we though his allergy meds weren't working & we needed new ones...well since his PCP just saw him Tues ( to check him out after the accident) she is positive that Caleb actual has a cold now (which means his allergy meds are still hopefully working) ..but his airway does not like this cold and is in asthma attack mode but she told me to start up some old meds and....so far in the last one hour and 45 mins only one coughing fit...he's gets breathing again in one hour 15 min so... even though he's technically in a really long asthma attack right now he's making it the 4 hours between treatments so really not bad...and very very managable.
I’m really hoping tomorrow is uneventful & my baby boy is feeling better and my baby girl doesn't catch whatever the heck he has (or something else from going w/ me to take him to the DR.!)
