Ready for Christmas -- Almost

Christmas eve ...baking - check; shopping - check (as of 10pm last night).....wrapping haven't started, got up early to do it and.... I'm blogging, nothing like a little procrastination. Nick is painting until noon today so I'm solo with Caleb this AM which means no wrapping once he wakes up.... its going to be a repeat of last year with late night Santa wrapping I suspect. Best part of Christmas Eve.... Caleb seems to be getting over his cold! He slept completely through the night for the first time since Saturday last night, so hopefully I don't have to use the just in case steroid meds I'm picking up this AM.

Luckily.... We start our celebrating early so even though Caleb had a bad cough that warranted two trips to the doctor already this week(really b/c of the asthma symptoms the bad cough is causing, not necessary the cough itself), we've still gotten plenty of Christmas celebrating in b/c Caleb and I (and Nick when he wasn't working or painting the basement) started our festivities last week :)

Last Monday we attempted to see Santa (he was out sick the day we went), but we had tons of fun playing in the Santa chair and visiting with friends we haven't' seen in a while. We went to "Jingle John" at the library on Tuesday which is a holiday kids program where animals are brought in and the last animal is...a live reindeer! Caleb loved the event and probably had to much fun, as Nick and I thought him continuously creeping to the front and center of the room was just adorable but not sure about the other parents / kiddos :). Finally.... on Wednesday & Thursday I (with Caleb's help) started and finished all my holiday treats, they have been anxiously awaiting today in the freezer (I did leave quite a few "samples" out for Nick and Caleb...which didn't last very long). In all honestly, I usually actually like the cookie and candy making but this year, just wasn't all that great, as I can't eat ANY of them. Since I never seem to follow a recipe and always add a little of this or that pending on taste I had to stick with old favorites and things that you can't really stray from the recipe too much on. (We made old fashioned cut out sugar cookies, holiday mint M&M cookies, and fudge).

A few photos from last week are below, I didn't get a good one of Caleb decorating cookies downloaded yet but he had round two of decorating at my Mom's house Tuesday while I had my doc apt and it sounded like it was more successful than our attempt so I'll try to get and post some of those pics.

An attempt at a mommy / Caleb pic...this was the best we got
The reindeer literally walked up to Caleb....Animals LOVE him. At the zoo this continuously would happen to us also, animals would come to the fence and see him and he even got the lions to roar a few times... Micheal was with us once and he is a zoo pro and that was the first time he ever had it happen.... Maybe he's a future Vet....

Front & Center :)

This is where we started sitting, nicely on the mat....didn't last long

Caleb & his friend Lucas playing at Santa's Chair (Sans Santa) the sign said "Rudolph was sick" so Santa was taking care of him...
